Applying for university or college can be a stressful process. You need to pick your courses, get your personal statement written, sort out your references and get your UCAS application out on time.
If you want to get a place on an undergraduate course, you’re probably not going to be able to avoid doing these things. But getting your head around all the different UCAS deadlines will help you get organised and reduce stress as much as possible.
Here are all the UCAS application deadline dates you need to know for 2019 entry to help you get your hands on the course places you really want.
5th September 2018: Application submission
As of 5th September, prospective students can send off their UCAS applications, and universities and colleges can start deciding who to give offers to.
1 October 2018 (6pm): Application deadline
This is the deadline for UCAS applications to be submitted for most conservatoire music courses.
15 October 2018 (6pm): Application deadline
This is the last day you can submit a UCAS application if you’re applying for one or more courses at Cambridge or Oxford University. It’s also the deadline for most medicine, veterinary and dentistry courses. Make sure you look up the deadline for each individual course you’re applying for so you know when your application needs to be in.
15 January 2019 (6pm): Application deadline
15th January 2019 is the date that most 2019 course applications need to be in by. This includes most conservatoire drama, dance and musical theatre courses. Some art and design courses do have a later deadline though, so may sure you check the course details.
25th February 2019: UCAS Extra opens
This is the date that UCAS Extra opens. This service gives you the chance to apply for a 6th university or college course if you’ve received decisions from all your 5 choices and either haven’t been accepted or have declined the offers.
1st May 2019: Reply deadline
If you get decisions back from all the courses you’ve applied for by 31st March 2019, you have to respond to them by 1st May 2019. If you don’t, they’ll be automatically declined.
2nd May 2019: University deadline
If you submitted your UCAS application by 15th January 2019, the universities or colleges you applied to have to get back to you with a decision by today. If they don’t then UCAS will mark your application as unsuccessful.
6th June 2019: Reply deadline
If you receive decisions from all the courses you’ve applied for by 2nd May, you have to reply to them by 6th June. Otherwise, they’ll be automatically declined.
20th June 2019: Reply deadline
If you get decisions back from all the courses you’ve applied for by 6th June, you need to respond to them by 20th June. If you fail to do this, UCAS will automatically decline them for you.
30th June 2019 (6pm): Application deadline
This is the last day you can send your application to UCAS and they’ll send it on to your chosen universities. After this, you’ll automatically get entered into Clearing instead.
4th July 2019: UCAS Extra deadline
This is the last date that you can use UCAS Extra to apply for a 6th university or college course.
5th July 2019: Clearing opens and IB results are published
Clearing opens on 5th July 2019 – you can use this service to view and apply for university course places that are still available. International Baccalaureate results are also published today.
11th July 2019: University deadline
If you submitted your UCAS application by 30th June 2018, the universities or colleges you applied to need to get back to you by today. If they don’t, UCAS will assume that they don’t want to offer you a place.
18th July 2019: Reply deadline
If you receive decisions back from all the universities or colleges you’ve applied for (including Extra choices) by 11th July, you need to respond to them by 18th July. If you don’t do this, UCAS will automatically reject them for you.
6th August 2019: SQA results day
This is the day that Scottish Qualification Awards results are published.
15th August 2019: Adjustment opens and A level results are published
A level results are published on 15th August. Adjustment also opens today – you might need to use this option if you get better results that you expect.
31st August 2019: Offer conditions deadline and Adjustment ends
This is the date that you need to make sure you’ve met all your offer conditions by, otherwise you might not get your place. Adjustment also ends today.
20th September 2019 (6pm): Final application deadline
This is the final date you can submit a UCAS application for 2019 entry courses.
22nd October 2019: Clearing ends
This is the final date you can add a Clearing choice and that a university or college can accept you.
Make a note of the dates that are relevant to you and plan all the things that you need to do for your UCAS application accordingly. This will help you get your application in at the right time and avoid any last-minute stress.
